Danny was a first time participant in the Tasmanian Gothic Short Script Challenge 2016. His script was judged to be in the Top 20 % and was given an Honourable Mention.Danny Youd was born and grew up in Launceston, Tasmania. From a young age he became interested in Art and Filmmaking. After spending his teenage years making short films, he attended AFTRS School in Sydney where he studied Directing and completed the short horror film, Tied. In 2014 worked on the feature film The Dressmaker as a storyboard artist and production assistant and in 2015 he travelled back to his home town of Launceston to make his first low-budget feature, The Grey Areas, the first feature film fully produced in Launceston. The Grey Areas had its world premiere at the 2015 BOFA Film Festival.
