      Make-up effects for horror

      • with Mel Cooper

This is a full day, hands on workshop that will take participants through everything they need to know to start creating their own horror special FX for film. The morning will be spent on general procedures and techniques, including how to stock your make-up box using free and inexpensive materials, and some specific effects (wounds, zombie make-up, etc). In the afternoon, participants will be given a chance to try out what they’ve learnt, and will need to recruit a model for this purpose.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more experience, as it will be tailored to the needs of the group. There will be a focus on using readily available materials, so it’s perfect for Challenge participants on a budget. A workshop like this would cost much more usually, so take advantage of the opportunity! Places are limited.

Mel Cooper’s film credits as a make-up FX artist include Cupcake: A Zombie Lesbian Musical, Slashed, and the feature film Blood Hunt
A photographer will be attending the workshop. For an extra $10 you can buy two professional studio shots of your model, to show off your handiwork. Perfect for your portfolio, to show your film collaborators, or just a fun souvenir.

Cost: $60 general, $50 registered Challenge participants and Wide Angle Tasmania financial members

This workshop is provided by Wide Angle Tasmania.
