What is Horrormathèque?
===================

Horrorthèque is a screening series hosted by Stranger WIth My Face. Unlike the main festival, it has a broader focus and includes horror films of all kinds, including ones directed by men.

It’s about promoting the idea of seeing horror/thriller films communally in Tasmania… with an appreciative crowd, the way they are best seen!

At the moment Horrormathèque is a bit of an experiment, and will continue according to the level of interest. There may be special guests and screenings at other venues.

Ultimately the aim is to develop the audience for genre films in Tasmania, so the more you can support it the more we can do, and the more likely it is that distributors will send great stuff down here! Another important aspect to it is that Australian filmmakers are making fantastic genre films at the moment they still tend to get limited support via domestic box office. We believe that’s because there isn’t a strong genre circuit here, much as there are in
other countries, and want to see that change.

NOTE: It’s called Horrormathèque because it’s a play on the word Cinémathèque. Yes, technically it should be Horrorthèque but sue us. Plus Cinémathèque generally refers to classic or retro films. While we probably will have some of these, the idea is that we’re identifying classics in the making and bringing them to your attention now. No waiting!
